GABRIOLA ISLAND - CREATIVE MEDITATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY RETREAT
Oct 27 - 29, 2017
Max 8 Photographers

OVERVIEW:
Are you perhaps wondering what a meditative photography retreat is all about? Simply put, meditation is the ”act of giving your attention to only one thing” and we’ve found the perfect spot on Gabriola Island to do just that. With nothing to distract us, we’re going to spend three days developing our senses in the art of photography.
Just like writers, photographers struggle with photographer’s block too. We’re going to forget all about the technical rules that govern our perceptions of the perfect picture.
Through innovative techniques, we’re going to lift you out of your photography rut. You’ll be challenged to see familiar subjects with fresh eyes and discover how to use your photography as a form of artful expression.

RETREAT ITINERARY:
Oct 27:
We will meet at our accommodation on Gabriola Island. After check in, we will gather together for a meet and greet and go over the agenda for the weekend. We’ll have dinner together in the dining room and then enjoy a presentation and open discussion on creativity and the world of creative meditative photography.
Oct 28:
After breakfast we will gather for a short discussion and then off to do some photography. You will be given creative exercises to work on. The day will be broken up into practical and lecture sessions. You will have the opportunity to practice the techniques you have learned. Weather permitting, we’ll walk to the Malaspina Galleries for our sunset shoot.
Oct 29:
There’s a great little provincial park not far from where we are staying. We’ll aim for a morning photo session in the forest. It’s then back to the lodge for a re-cap of the weekend’s events. Lunch is served at noon and then it will be time to say farewell.
Disclaimer: As most of our photo trips take place outdoors in nature, we are at the behest of the elements. While we can’t guarantee you the ideal weather conditions for our trips, we will certainly make every effort to provide you with a memorable and worthwhile experience. Regardless of the weather, you will be immersed in photography, learning to make beautiful images and using your camera gear in all situations. And the bonus is you get to travel to new places, meet other photographers and improve your photography skills.
